Thank you for your interest in the Buffalo Seminary Fellows Program. SEM is an all-girl day and boarding high school located in the Elmwood Village neighborhood of Buffalo, NY. The Fellowship Program is designed to provide creative and enthusiastic college graduates with a one year boarding school immersion experience. The specific nature of the fellowships offered will depend upon the school's needs for the coming academic year, and those needs may be determined any time between early February and early summer.
Overview of the Administrative Fellowship Program
Fellows begin their commitment to SEM in late August with an orientation program, which focuses on the School's mission, philosophy of education, and the logistics of the school day and year. Except for winter and spring vacations, the Fellowship is a full-time commitment until early June. A stipend of $20,000 is paid to Fellows on a twelve-month basis, including health insurance, beginning in September.
Fellows typically will work in an administrative office with support from a mentor, will be a member of the residential team with dorm duty, will coach or lead activities and perform support tasks throughout the community. All Fellows help in our extra-curricular programs in either athletics, theatre, or community service. Fellows live in campus housing. Fellows are assigned a mentor and are provided support through our faculty growth program.
Fellowships are posted for the upcoming year based on the opportunities the school anticipates having available. Once the need for an Administrative Fellow has been established, the hiring team will review all completed applications.
If you are interested in being considered for one of our Fellowships, please provide us with the following materials:
- A cover letter which briefly explains why you would like to teach at SEM;
- A résumé which includes the following —your academic study; your experience in teaching; your experience in boarding life; your experience in coaching or sports, service work or experience in the performing arts;
- The names, telephone numbers and emails of three references;
- An official transcript from your college or university, including a transcript for any graduate work you may have done.
Interested candidates should submit a cover letter with resume to Kim Trow, Assistant to the Head of School, at humanresources@buffaloseminary.org. Please include position applying for in the subject line.
