One Drive Explained

For the last few years, we have been asking SEM community members to safely store all documents in the cloud using Microsoft's free personal version of One Drive (which used to be called Sky Drive).

Last year, Microsoft decided to reduce the amount of free storage space to 5 GB. If you have been using One Drive (personal) and have plenty of room left, feel free to continue using it.

As a response to this, over the summer we rolled out the business version of One Drive which is part of a larger Microsoft Office online suite called Office 365.This version allows each user 1 terabyte of storage space.

The personal and business versions are separate storage spaces, but you can use both at the same time, on the same computer. A good plan for would be to leave what you have from previous years in the personal version, but to begin this school year using the business version.

This new business version is actually part of the SEM network domain, which means that everyone at SEM already has a username and password for the business version. All SEM computers that have the Windows 10, already have both desktop versions installed. If you save a new Word document and see these options, you are ready to roll.

If yours doesn't look like this, stop into the tech office and Mr. Froebel will help you to set it up properly.

VERY IMPORTANT!

Even though this is part of the SEM network, occasionally the connection needs to be reset, and you will be prompted to enter an "email and password". It is NOT asking for your regular SEM email address, although it seems similar! Instead of buffaloseminary.org, you need to type buffseminary.com.The password is the same one you use to log into your computer, NOT your email password.

Please use the following format:

Network username@buffseminary.com (example: badamczyk@buffseminary.com)

Network password (the one you use to log into your computer)
