Michael E. Maxwell Esq. to be Next Chair of the Board of Trustees

Michael E. Maxwell, Esq., Will be New Chair of the Board of Trustees

SEM is pleased to announce the election of our nextchair of the board of trustees. Michael Maxwell, Esq. officially assumes the role on July 1, 2017, for a three-year term.

Mike is the parent of Megan Maxwell '16, and has been serving as vice chair of the board since March, 2015. During his tenure as vice chair, Mike has served on the Executive, Governance, Buildings & Grounds, Strategic Planning, Investment, and Finance Committees.

"I am extremely honored to be taking over for [previous board chair] Margaret Brown," said Mike. "SEM made such a difference in my daughter's life that I am willing to do just about anything for the school. Every alumna I've ever met feels the same way; SEM is a life-changing experience for them."

Mike is a partner at Hodgson Russ LLP, where he practices in the areas of business litigation and personal injury. Among his many achievements, Mike has been listed in Best Lawyers in America (Commercial Litigation and Product Liability Litigation- Defendant), Upstate New York Super Lawyers 2010-2016, and Buffalo Business First/Buffalo Law Journal "Who's Who in Law," 2008.

A Buffalo native, Mike attended Canisius High School, received his BA in English at Middlebury College, and was awarded his JD from the State University of New York at Buffalo.

"As a former SEM parent, Mike brings valuable insight and perspective to the board. I look forward to working with him," said Head of School, Helen Ladds Marlette.
