Local poet Sherry Robbins will be the Betty McNulty Wilkinson '25 Poet at SEM this spring.
Each winter, the sophomore class takes a series of poetry workshops with our poet-in-residence, alumna Ansie Silverman Baird '55. As is traditional for the Wilkinson poet, Ms. Robbins will spend the day with students discussing the art of poetry. A day with the Wilkinson poet, culminating in a reading is the conclusion of the workshops
Ms. Robbins will read from her works in the SEM chapel on Wednesday, March 15 at 2:30 PM. The entire school, parents, alumnae, and the poetry enjoying public are invited to the reading. A reception which is open to the public, parents, alumnae and the sophomores will follow.
The fund was established in 1986 under the will of Elizabeth M. Wilkinson to bring practicing poets to SEM's campus and classrooms to enrich teaching and learning of poetry, in support of SEM's English Department.
