Buffalo Seminary is pleased to announce the recent appointments of Katharine Bowen Smith '92 and current SEM parent Mark Burlow to our board of trustees.

Katharine Bowen Smith '92:

After graduating from Buffalo Seminary in 1992, Kate attended Hamilton College before transferring to Lewis & Clark College in Portland, graduating with a BS in Political Science and a minor in Women's Studies. She earned her JD in 1999 from the State University of New York at Buffalo. Kate then moved to Washington D.C. to serve as a legislative aide to Rep. John LaFalce (D-Buffalo), before going on to join SIECUS, a non-profit dedicated to promoting comprehensive sexuality education, as well as reproductive and sexual health and rights. She served as SEICUS's Assistant Director of Publicity until 2005.

Kate and her husband, Andrew L. Smith (son of Ann Letchworth Huntington '61), have two daughters: Alexandra (12) and Grace (almost 5). The family recently moved back to Buffalo after 20 years in the D.C. area. We are thrilled to have her back in Buffalo and serving on the board of trustees.

Mark Burlow:

Mark is a Buffalo native; he graduated from West Seneca West High School in 1982 before going on to receive his BS in Information Systems Management from Buffalo State College. After college, Mark joined Niagara Machine & Tool, where he was first introduced to the world of manufacturing. He is currently VP of Sales for G&W Global Group in Milbury, MA.

Mark and his wife Tami, a special education teacher aide for the West Seneca school district, are the proud parents of two: daughter Samantha '17 and son Mackenzie. The family lives in West Seneca with their Victorian bulldog, Rufus. Mark is an enthusiastic and steadfast supporter of SEM and we are delighted to have him join the board and remain involved in SEM though Sam will graduate this year.

Since July 1, 2016, Elizabeth Roach, Jennifer Cornacchio, James Kramer, and Claire Schen have all joined the Buffalo Seminary board of trustees. Robert (Bob) Carr also re-joined the board after a two-year hiatus.
