The public is invited when Olivia Haas, director of communications and research at the National Coalition of Girls' Schools delivers results of recently conducted studies on the lasting and profound impact all-girls schools have on their students. Ms. Haas will describe how an all-girls education affects girls' lives – their prospects and choices as high school students, as college students, and into their adulthoods.
The hour-long program also includes some all-girl theater and talk with SEM students who will answer questions about the affect girls' education has had on them. One didn't want it and she will describe her unexpected fulfillment. The other is a Buffalo Prep student who blossomed in all-girls education.
There will be refreshments in the new Magavern-Sutton Courtyard at 7 PM.
This is the inaugural event of SEM sponsored speaker series which will be open to the public. The series is designed to address issues in girls' education and development; it is to introduce new thought and explain approaches.
