The 45th Annual Prince Lecture on May 11, 2018 was a recreation of the first Prince Lecture which was performance of Franz Schubert's Trout Quartet. The lecture has become a shared event between the Nichols School and Buffalo Seminary.

Pianist Alexander Aylward, a graduate of the Nichols School Class of 2013, led a bass, violin, and viola quartet. His father, Ansgarius Aylward, and Nichols French teacher and pianist Charles Hamlen performed the same piece of music at the first Prince Lecture at Nichols in 1973. Ansgarius, the assistant concertmaster for the Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra, was present for his son's performances.

Alexander performed at Nichols in the morning and SEM in the afternoon. Between the school concerts, his quartet performed at a Saturn Club lunch for SEM and Nichols alumnae and friends of the schools.

"We're going to be able to say we saw him when," said SEM faculty member Kyle Hopkins, who is the advisor for the Semachords a cappella group.

The fund established by the Prince Family seeks to enhance SEM's curriculum by inviting distinguished scientists, authors, politicians, scholars, and lecturers to share their talents with the Buffalo Seminary community.
