On June 13, 2016, Class Day (an annual awards day) five seniors, Anna Fretz, Milan Gacioch, Maia Gallagher, Erin Melber and Sara Smolarek joined their four SEM sisters who were fall inductees in SEM's chapter of the national Cum Laude Society.
On June 3, 2016, Student Recognition Day, SEM inducted 28 juniors into the National Honor Society. These students will act as peer tutors in their senior year: Jenna Al-Naji, Morgan Baker, Emma Brentjens, Emily Broxup, Sara Caywood, Caroline Dunbar, Alison Gareis, Dabin Han, Emily Marie Jimenez, Jade Johnson, Mikang Kim, Alexis Kowalak, Leah Kramer, Maria Laudico, Madelynn Leary, Iliana Lukasik, Catherine McClenahan, Sophie Mielnicki, Elisaveta Nedkova, Tara Porter, Isabelle Schlehr, Mariam Shafik, Fatima Siddiqui, Jesse Sloier, Rebecca Thomas, Clare von Simson, Yao (Lisa) Xiao and Xinyang (Amber) Ye.
National Honor Society pledge
Also on Student Recognition Day, Kendyl Kratzer, SEM's community service board chair, was given Buffalo Business First's "Community All-Star Award" for her service to the school and the greater community of Buffalo and Western New York.
A number of awards, athletic and academic are conferred at SEM on these two days; the merit, honor, and high honor rolls are also announced.
